First Look: Union L.A. x Air Jordan 4 ‘Desert Moss’

Chris Gibbs’ Union L.A. continue to make waves as one of the most exciting brands in the sneaker industry.

After linking up with the Jumpman for a jaw-dropping rendition of the Air Jordan 1 in 2018, Union L.A. turned their attention to another icon from the Jordan Brand: the Air Jordan 4. Launched in 2020 alongside a Jordan capsule also featuring the Zoom 92 and a Delta Mid (plus apparel), the Air Jordan 4 was another home-run for the L.A.-based label.

Now, Union L.A. are celebrating their 30th anniversary, presenting another Air Jordan 4 for the occasion, this time dressed in ‘Desert Moss’.

Joining the recently teased ‘Taupe Haze’ rendition, the ‘Desert Moss’ features purple mesh on the toe box and mustard suede. Translucent wings again return, while UN/LA lateral tags, pre-folded tongues and hangtags that read 1991-2021 are emblazoned in the shape of road signs.

‘The vision here was to mix suede and mesh, so we worked really hard to find the right materials’, Gibbs said of the original inspiration behind the design. ‘For the suede, we took hints from other products with really thick but plush suede … For the mesh, we wanted an old-school mesh like the OG sneakers of the 80s’.

Look for the Union L.A. x Air Jordan 4 ‘Desert Moss’ to land later this year. The price tag is set at $225.
