First Look: UNDERCOVER x Nike SFB Mountain
Considering last year’s psychedelic and futuristic UNDERCOVER x Nike React Element 87 — not to mention their wild Daybreak — images of an upcoming blacked-out trail shoe link-up come as quite a surprise. Or maybe, when Jun Takahashi is involved, we’d do better to just expect the unexpected.
Reaching into the collaborative hat, the pair have pulled out an obscure rabbit indeed: the archival SFB Mountain. Debuting in 2015, the hiking boot was inspired by Bill Bowerman’s World War II service and featured an array of battle-ready accoutrements. Takahashi has taken the silhouette and plied it with updated techy details. The upper remains largely untouched, but the hiking laces make way for a more modern toggle and cord arrangement, while a forefoot strap system wears subtle ‘The New Warriors’ printed across the midfoot.
