‘Ball de diables’ is a traditional form of medieval street theatre that originated almost 1000 years ago. When Franco’s dictatorship fell with his death in 1975, the Catalan tradition was reborn with ferocious new energy after decades of suppression, birthing its modern form known as Correfocs – fire runs.

These days, in the lead up to Barcelona’s La Mercè Festival in late September, people take to the streets dressed as devils to let off fireworks and beat drums. This modern Correfocs celebration is the inspiration behind the latest collaboration between  and .

Following their previous Diadora colab, ‘‘, LimitEDitions have taken the  and decked it out in a red-hot colourway that channels the mischievous attitudes, energies and atmosphere of the Correfocs. The design features a fiery red toe box, flowing through from the dark-as-night leather. An embroidered logo on the heel shows an explosion of sparks surrounding a silhouette of a pitchfork, an illustration of the costumes and fireworks that illuminate the processions.

The LimitEDitions x Diadora N9000 ‘Correfocs’ will be releasing soon, stay tuned for more info.
