Famously taking cues from the Stefanel Trieste uniform Jordan played in during a Nike exhibition game in 1985, the ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway is still one of the most coveted compositions in the Jordan Brand catalogue.

We’ve seen numerous renditions over the years, including a wild Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard 3.0’ last year (the textured patent leather polarised the sneaker community when it was originally revealed).

The inimitable ‘Shattered Backboard’ will now make its way to the Air Jordan 1 Low in 2021, the orange, white and black remix applied to classic leather overlays. Classic white rubber midsoles and orange outsoles round-out the design.

Look for the Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Shattered Backboard’ to release in August 2021.

While the Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway is now dressed in orange, Michael Jordan actually shattered the backboard in 1985 while wearing the OG AJ1 ‘Chicago’ edition. Playing in Trieste, Italy, real glass from the backboard is still lodged in the sole of that AJ1, the sneaker recently selling for a total of $500,000 in a collaborative auction with Stadium Goods and Christie’s.
