Feel Fierce in the adidas NMD at JD Sports
Blacked-out editions of the venerable are among its all-time greatest colourways. The popular silhouette has proved itself to be extremely versatile in its six-year existence, with a multitude of material and graphic executions. Up next are two variations on a near noir theme, finished fiercely with some on-brand animal motifs.
This NMD two-pack features plenty of hallmarks that have made it so successful, even if it’s somewhat an exercise in minimalism. Smooth mesh uppers form a stretchy sock-like fit, which is paired to a contrasting fabric heel counter for textural depth. The tactile experience continues with the welded stripe branding and forefoot strip. Meanwhile, translucent heel counters allow animal pattern graphics to come out of hiding for a ferocious flash.
Things are fairly tame underfoot, but there is a brief visit to the wild side. Another classic cue for super nice NMDs is the inclusion of black BOOST soles, which has long been a fan-favourite feature, and a mark of distinction above other releases. They’re reprised here, and the usual contrasting heel and forefoot blocks are rendered tonal. However, some subtle accents pop through on the medial arch with adi’s international characters that are colour matched to the heel counter.
