Expect Metallic Madness on the Louis Vuitton LV Trail SneakerRelease: 11 November 2020
Louis Vuitton are more than just a high-end luxury fashion house. They’ve taken a multidisciplinary approach to their offering in recent years, as proven by unexpected products like their first-ever skate shoe and collaborations with Supreme. So, in a relative sense, a mostly metallic trail-inspired runner perhaps isn’t the craziest thing they’ve ever done. It’s still pretty full-on though.
Sitting somewhere between a pastiche of 2000s running shoes and an unapologetically gaudy display of oversized branding, the LV Trail Sneaker has a lot going on. Namely the aforementioned metallic leather overlays on the toe, midfoot, and contrast heel counter. Tonal mesh underlays add a faux performance edge, so do the external heel clip and simulated cushioning midsole insert. The latter feature is simply a conduit for inflated LV monogram flowers to add that French flex (the shoes are actually made in Italy). Some sharp injections of bright primary colours and neon-trimmed shoelaces all contribute to the overall OTT look.
The all-silver edition is perfect for that robot cosplay – remember, they don’t feel pain, so don’t wince at the $1200 pricetag. Alternatively, they could also be rocked for a high rolling marathon. However, there is also a black and blue colourway that could represent the bruising wallets will take after forking out the aforementioned RRP. With the lime green hints, it definitely wears its inspiration on its sleeve.
Both colourways of the LV Trail Sneaker are available now directly from Louis Vuitton.
