This husky, hefty, clunky sneaker thing has grown big enough to have its own subset. While the and are donning size for size’s sake, there’s a division of burly brogues taking cues from utility wear. Unlike their fashion-minded counterparts, these sneakers prize functionality fit for the great outdoors; robust design is just a byproduct. It’s why brands like Salomen have found themselves in Palace catalogues and being worn by Ralph Lauren to the latest CFDA Awards.

Rocking trail-running sneakers as fashion can be a leap for some, so Camper are here to bridge the gap. Their latest work is a collaboration with Kiko Kostadinov, a designer whose knack for making function into fashion gave us one of year’s best ASICS drops. He’s produced a thick-soled Camper TIEX that looks ideal for, well, camping. Reinforced toe boxes will protect wayward hammer strokes as you pound tent pegs, and drawstring closures mean you won’t have to tie laces with numb fingers.

You’ll be able to get pairs when they drop through Dover Street Market on June 15.
