Drop Details: The New Balance KAWHI ‘Seismic Moment’ Release: 11 November 2020
Expect Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers to rebound after their historic capitulation against the Denver Nuggets last season, the organisation is already making aggressive off-season moves by moving on head coach Doc Rivers.
Kawhi Leonard will be hoping his sneakers can give him an extra edge, the Klaw inking a lucrative deal with New Balance during his career with the Toronto Raptors.
First laced by Kawhi during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game (where he claimed the NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant MVP Award), the KAWHI ‘Seismic Moment’ sneaker is finally scheduled to hit retail.
Taking inspiration from the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit California on the very same day Kawhi signed with the Clippers, the KAWHI features Richter scales, Kawhi’s hometown coordinates (Moreno Valley, CA), cornrow-like tongue details, and eyelets that take aesthetic cues from his love of vintage cars.
‘Kawhi wanted to honour his hometown and the monumental decision to come home and play there,’ says Jonathan Grondin, Design Director for New Balance Basketball. ‘We used the earthquake to drive the design, even looking to the shake map for the sole unit. Kawhi’s decision to come home shook the hoops world, and this design pays homage to that important moment.’
Look for the New Balance KAWHI ‘Seismic Moment’ to land on November 11 for $160.
