Dior’s Teched-Out B30 Sneaker Runs Catwalks and SidewalksRelease: 14 October 2021
Within three years of joining the fashion fortress that is the House of Dior, Kim Jones has steered the brand in an excitingly futuristic direction from head to toe. For Spring 2022, Jones starts from the ground up with the new B30 sneaker, a take on the cutting-edge athletic aesthetics of performance runners, which are elevated to the lofty luxury standards of Dior.
The B30 is a departure from the overtly dadcore designs and ironically unattractive sports shoe inspirations that were once pervasive in the luxury sneaker space. Thanks to Jones’ impressive palmares in the shoe game, plus a personal fondness for trainers, the lauded Dior artistic director already knows the ingredients for a tasty sneaker. Technical materials including microfiber and mesh are lightweight standards, while layered panelling maintains a familiar look.
However, Jones knows not to take things too seriously, making room for oversized CD branding to be clearly seen on the sides and even on the outsole tread. And, depending on the level of fashion flex desired, the B30 is launching in five colours including stealthy black, ubiquitous grey, and even retina-burning neon yellow.
‘This season we worked on the B30 sneaker, which comes in a variety of colours, but trying to elevate everything to make it feel like it's an accessory for a sophisticated wardrobe,’ says Jones.
The Dior B30 is available now directly from Dior.
