Diadora’s Equipe Atomo is the First Made in Italy Running Shoe in Over 30 YearsRelease: 1 December 2021
Diadora are writing a new chapter of their rich athletic history by introducing the first running shoe made in Italy in over 30 years. Known as the Equipe Atomo, this self-proclaimed ‘passion project’ was completely ‘developed, engineered and produced’ domestically for the modern runner seeking a lightweight and responsive shoe.
The Equipe Atomo is archetypical of contemporary athletic designs. Variable knit uppers enable different sections of the shoe to be both breathable and durable, without compromising quality. It’s joined to a padded midsole made from Diadora’s proprietary DD Anima compound, which provides a reactive and cushioned feel. For the podiatrist sneakerheads reading, the claimed heel-to-toe drop is only 5mm. And this is all in a featherweight package that weighs as low as 198g in some women’s sizes.
In celebrating their new impressive feat of local design and manufacture, some of the debut Equipe Atomo colourways unashamedly display the colours of the Italian flag, plus some gold detailing to add a winning edge.
Diadora will be highlighting their new design via the ongoing ‘Postcard from Italy’ campaign, which sees runners moving through distinctly picturesque locations, such as Tuscany pictured above. The Equipe Atomo is available now directly from Diadora from sizes 4 to 14.
