Converse Upgrade An On-Court Icon For Modern Times

Converse have just gifted us a modern take on an iconic on-court model. Released in 1976, the Pro Leather was an instant success among basketball players looking for an edge on the hardwood. Now, the silhouette has been revised and rebuilt with upgraded materials to create the Pro Leather ’76.

Two complementary colourways introduce the model – a ‘Triple Black’ and a ‘Triple White’ rendition. Both repurpose the style sensibilities of the original in a way that harks back to their hooping roots, but keeps a steady eye on the future.

Given that the OG Pro Leather was frequently sighted on the courts of New York City, Converse have decided to kick off the ‘76’s story there too. The shoes start their journey at the prestigious Rucker Park, then move on to Sarah D. Roosevelt and Rutgers before meeting the cityscape that they’re more likely to find footing in today.
