Converse Put Nike Air in the First String Chuck Taylor

It is hard to name two revelations more core to the sneakersphere than the and Nike Air cushioning tech – and now, are combining the icons! This crossover comes courtesy of Converse’s sub-label , whose genesis can be traced back to the early-2010s when it was established as Converse's test kitchen and hype lab. First String have explored a number of archival models and have collaborated with influential figures across their existence, and now they're climbing back up the depth chart with this elevated new Chuck.
The 2020s have witnessed consumer tastes shifting toward lower profile and running-focused silhouettes, however the rise of the skinny sneaker trend over the last year could mean Converse is well-positioned to make noise. The revamped First String Chuck Taylor delivers an overhauled version of the beloved icon, and four colourways are set to be released in the first wave featuring a mix of materials and prints. The pack includes faux-hair cheetah print, brown leather, cream canvas, and a perforated, woven, tropical design. Each pair comes retooled and upgraded with Vibram outsole, CX foam and the spotlighted element, Nike Air.
The Converse First String Chuck Taylor collection is scheduled to release this week, on September 16. The kicks seem to have all the makings of a success story, yet there is a significant detractor: the retail price is reportedly set at $250. Are the upgrades worth the cop? The jury's out, but we look forward to the verdict.
