Comme des Garçons Homme Plus and Nike's Sporty Air Sunder Maxes Get a Global Release Date

All three colourways will hit Dover Street Market webstores in the US and Europe on July 21. Each will retail for $350. have quite the tome of collaborative partners, but among all the artists, streetwear brands, high fashion houses and musicians the Swoosh have worked with over the years, nobody can do the obscure quite like . Rei Kawakubo's brand and its diffusion lines have a penchant for redoing cult-favourite silhouettes like the and the . Although they're not shy to recraft mainstream favourites like the or as well, they seem to take special pleasure in digging a little deeper into the Nike archives than most. The latest result of that fascination with the obscure is three takes on the Air Sunder Max, a colab that was first revealed at the Homme Plus SS22 runway back in July 2021.
A largely forgotten Air Max silhouette from 1999, the Air Sunder Max's key detail is its sleek, retrofuturistic upper that gives off a smooth look with its neoprene construction, notched nubuck mudguard and zip closure atop the laces. It also features visible Air units in both the forefoot and heel. All three of CDG's colourways – namely white with black, all white and all black – are much starker in style than the wildly-coloured iterations that dropped back in 1999, and all three are completed by a mini Swoosh in front of the lateral collar.
Expect the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus x Nike Air Sunder Max to release via the Comme des Garçons webstore and Dover Street Market on April 22. Each is priced at ¥40,700 JPY, which is roughly $322 in US dollars.
