Back in March, Comme des Garçons debuted their Fall/Winter 2021 collection and beneath all that smoke was a three-piece collaboration with French outdoors brand Salomon. For the linkup, CdG chose the Cross and XA-Alpine 2, reworking them ever so slightly to slot in next to their mainline outfit offerings.

The Cross has been given the most drastic makeover with houndstooth print reaching the ankle gator and travelling down the middle. Black covers the rest of the shoe, including the signature Salomon Lace Garage, cushy midsole and Contagrip outsole. CdG make themselves known with bold branding scripted alongside the lateral heel.

The XA-Alpine is much more subtle when compared to the Cross and has been dressed in two monochrome colourways. One has been ‘murdered-out’ with contrasting white logos while the second rocks a stark white build with black accents.

CdG and Salomon are far from strangers, with the duo having linked on a number of silhouettes over the past year. Most recently, the pair modified the Sense Feel, incorporating a gargantuan platform midsole. They also altered the RX 3.0 Moc, turning it into a Mary Jane-style silhouette.

The Comme des Garçons x Salomon Cross and XA-Alpine 2 have already been slated for an October 28 release. All three pairs will be available via Dover Street Market and other select Salomon stockists.
