Coco Gauff Blings Out the New Balance 327
While most sportswear brands have a department that deals with collaborations with third parties like retailers and individuals, many of them also look internally at their athlete roster to dream up new colourways. One such example is , who have granted their rising tennis star signing, Coco Gauff, her own take on the .
From the lateral side, it simply looks like an all-white 327 with a neon pink N logo. However, a closer look reveals the upper is made from delicate fabric, almost like linen, paired with tonal synthetic overlays. According to NB, these synthetic panels are smooth, allowing easy personalisation. Plus, the lateral N logo is actually a clear pink layer sewn atop a white underlay, creating the neon effect.
But that’s not all. Gauff has taken full advantage of the 327’s two-faced design, plunging the medial side in deep red. NB say it best: it’s a ‘distinctive look that’s perfectly unexpected’. The bright side is finished with two rows of faux gold chains, nodding to Gauff’s love for bling strings. Finally, she leaves her signature on the insoles to signify this is her very own special edition sneaker.
