Closer Look: The Nike ZoomX VaporFly NEXT% 2
The latest chapter in ongoing quest for running innovation has landed, adding a collection of advancements to the game-changing . The aptly-named follows closely in the footsteps of its predecessor, leveraging the same articulated carbon plate in the midsole to deliver elite propulsion. Down below, the ZoomX foam in the midsole is also retained to provide a lightweight and responsive feel underfoot.
As for the changes, there’s a softer and more breathable engineered mesh across the upper to better conform with the foot and help keep feet cooler while you’re pounding the pavement. Padding has been added around the tongue to increase comfort levels, and forefoot reinforcement hits the high-wear areas to make the shoe more durable.
Two colourways of the Nike ZoomX VaporFly NEXT% 2 have been revealed so far: a striped-back white option, and an alluring ‘Aqua’ combo. The white colourway is described by Beaverton as ‘a minimalist colourway for Nike members that taps into the workshop lore of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’.
Pairs of the Nike ZoomX VaporFly NEXT% 2’s debut white rendition released in limited numbers on February 28 for Nike members, while the ‘Aqua’ colourway will receive a wider drop on March 25.
