Closer Look: AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High ‘Cosmic Fuchsia’
Originally debuting on the New York runways last year, the x ‘Cosmic Fuchsia’ is finally slated to arrive this month.
Fuelled by Japanese automotive culture, the re-imagined Dunk extends the Swoosh beyond the heel, capturing the aesthetic of an automobile exhaust pipe.
‘I thought, 'how can I make the shoes almost look like this moving thing?’ AMBUSH founder Yoon Ahn recently told Nike.
Launching alongside an apparel line for the L.A. Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, Yoon specifically designed the collection for women. She’s the first female designer to officially partner with the NBA.
‘I thought of all these amazing and strong female characters from the ’90s who would come out in men’s clothes, and I wanted to see how we could carry that attitude, but bring in more feminine forms,’ Yoon said.
While the all-black AMBUSH x Nike Dunk launched on December 11, the neck-craning ‘Fuchsia’ pair is scheduled to land on January 14.
