While adidas have released countless colourways and variants of their modern classic known as the UltraBOOST, some of its earliest drops have been the most memorable. And two of those ‘heritage’ editions are returning soon to evoke some #TeamCozy memories for those who rode in on the BOOST wave, and simultaneously offer the fashionably late a second chance to experience what they missed out on back in the mid-2010s.

These are reissues of the ‘Burgundy’ and ‘Olive’ colourways that released in 2015 shortly after the OG UltraBOOST debut. They helped transcend the pure runner from a mere performance sports shoe into a credible street sneaker too, thanks to their flex-friendly tones. It also helped quite a bit that the Primeknit uppers and full-length BOOST midsoles delivered incredible comfort straight out of the box. Anecdotally, the tonal colourways that weren’t all-black or all-white became sleeper hits, but quickly triggered some non-buyers’ remorse in the years that followed as they became increasingly scarce.

So, back to 2020. Consider this take two. The colours appear to have changed a little bit to differentiate from the original releases, but it’s still pretty much the same. Both feature Continental rubber outsoles (some of you might remember the 2015 editions didn’t), while the subtle two-toned Primeknit upper adds textural depth.

Props to adidas for an accurate ‘retro’ – even if it doesn’t feel like that long ago. Releasing on October 22 at select retailers.
