Brooklyn Projects have announced their latest skate shoe collaboration with OG brand Axion using the Nutek model from the 1990s. As BP co-founder Dom DeLuca attests, this has been a passion project a long time in the making.

Having Kareem Campbell – skate legend and the face of Axion – as a business partner would seemingly make it easy for DeLuca to achieve his dream of having a signature skate shoe. However, he specifically sought out Campbell’s top-of-the-line Nutek model, which had been out of circulation for over 20 years. Thus began a painstaking process of reproducing the design in 2021. So, they went to straight to the source: the original factory that manufactured the shoes back in the day. After multiple revisions to the ‘millimetres of the foxing tape to the [size of the] airbag’, DeLuca was finally satisfied with a product promising to emulate the exact shape, fit and construction as the 90s originals.

As such, this impressive feat has been stamped with plenty of Brooklyn Projects branding on the tongue and outsole alongside Kareem Campbell’s signature on the tongue, setting the finishing touches to a clean black and red colourway.

The Brooklyn Projects x Axion Nutek will be available exclusively at Brooklyn Projects’ Melrose location on December 4.
