Gutter Ball? Never. Brain Dead Rolls with Dover Street Market and adidas Bowling
are teaming up with and to revive the adidas Bowling silhouette. Last year, the Los Angeles-based collective collaborated with adidas on a special friends-and-family edition of the long-forgotten model to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Now, they’re joining forces with Dover Street Market for a wider retail release.
Featuring a sleek black upper with contrast white stitching, the bowling shoe features gilded adidas and Dover Street Market branding on the lateral sides. Over on the heel tabs, Brain Dead’s classic ‘logohead’ – a homage to 1960s psychedelia – hits the white leather. The logohead is also enshrined in a circle motif as a reference to the bowling ball.
Of course, adidas have a long history of crafting footwear for niche sports. One of its more recognisable bowling shoes is the Kegler Super, released in the late 1970s and designed specifically for a German style of bowling. In more recent years, adidas have celebrated bowling shoes through collaborations, most notably with their partnership with Jeremy Scott in 2019, who reinterpreted adi’s bowling shoe through his idiosyncratic lens.
Reportedly a Dover Street Market exclusive, both in-store and online, this three-way collaboration between Brain Dead, DSM and adidas Originals is expected to land over the coming months. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for release details and pricing updates.
