Bodega Go Old School with The Boring Phone

Our friends from Bodega are known for crafting epic collaborative work with an array of sneaker brands, with their catalogue expanding by multiple linkups every year. However, their latest venture goes outside the realm of sneakers, instead linking up with the beer brand Heineken and Human Mobile Devices (the company who’s manufactured Nokia phones since 2017) to create a retro phone.

Announced ahead of Milan Design Week, Bodega have gone full old school with The Boring Phone. Its design has been made of a translucent casing with exposed green interior hardware. This phone doesn’t have a touch screen and instead can only receive texts and phone calls, but it does have a camera, Micro USB charging port and 4G connectivity – you can also play snake!

The whole campaign messaging behind this colab is that ‘there’s more to social life when there’s less on your phone’, helping to disconnect people from their devices when they’re engaging in social experiences. It may seem strange at first glance that Bodega is involved in this project, but as more of our lives increasingly go further into the online spaces, including the sneakersphere, it makes sense. Sneakerhead culture has become an almost solely online endeavour, with many heads reminiscing of the old days when we used to line up for shoes and cop IRL instead of adding to cart. Bodega have seen this firsthand, as sneaker store owners who interact with sneakerheads every day.

The Bodega x Heineken x HMD The Boring Phone will debut at Milan Design Week on April 18. Only 5000 units will be created!
