Bob Marley's Connection to adidas Is Officially Immortalised on SL 72
While Bob Marley and never collaborated officially, the two have always shared a connection, with Marley often rocking adidas apparel and sneakers. There have also been a number of releases that pay homage to the late reggae star, including the 2008 colab with Bob Marley’s record label, Tuff Gong, the 2021 in collaboration with the Dutch football team AFC Ajax, and the capsule collection that landed just this month.
To make this partnership official, the Bob Marley estate has now collaborated with adidas to release a special edition , according to Complex. The choice of model for the project may have been inspired by this 1976 picture of Marley rocking those exact shoes.
The design features an all-black upper, accentuated with varying materials to bring depth, including leather on the Three Stripes and smooth suede on the T-toe. The midsole boasts subdued versions of the Rasta colours: green, gold and red. His signature is embossed on the lateral heel in gold script, and his name and image are printed on the tongue.
The official collaboration was first revealed by Marley’s granddaughter on two weeks ago and it’s expected to land as part of the Summer 2024 collection. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
