Billy’s Restore the PUMA Suede VintageRelease: 2 July 2022
In a sneaker world filled with cutting-edge technical designs, candy coloured retros, and cookie cutter silhouettes, it can be refreshing to return to the classics. One such example is the PUMA Suede Vintage, which Japanese retailer Billy’s have brought back with some bespoke features.
Navy has always been an OG colour for the street classic PUMA Suede, and it just so happens that Billy’s brand guide specifies that deep shade. However, unlike the neutral Formstripe found on regular Suedes, this edition opts for a smooth silver finish – referencing some of the very first colourways of the 50-plus-year-old model.
Billy’s have also added some contemporary creature comforts for sneakerheads who like to keep their laces loose – or in this case, completely absent! That’s thanks to a wide elastic band placed above the tongue and between the eyestays that keeps the foot secure. While subtly tonal when rocked laceless, this band is completely hidden when the Suedes are strung up with any of the three pairs of included laces: thin tonal navy, thin contrast white, and classic bboy phat silver.
The Billy’s x PUMA Suede Vintage will be available from June 18 and, at this stage, be exclusive to the retailer. Call in the PUMA plugs!
