What If? BespokeIND Create Off-White X Nike Air Max 1s
Virgil Abloh made a bold claim upon the official reveal of his debut collaboration with Nike, stating that each of the shoes in the collection could be produced simply 'by making a trip to your local store, and using tools you have at home'. Heeding the Off-White founder's DIY advice, the crew at BespokeIND decided to put this claim to the test, resulting in two unique renditions of the Air Max 1 inspired by the collection's deconstructed aesthetic.
The first of the two make-ups features a largely black leather upper with a matching black Air Max 1 sole unit. For the second pair, the BespokeIND crew stuck to a largely off-white colour scheme, but have injected some flavour of their own with the addition of a jet black Air Huarache outsole.
Created with Abloh's left-of-centre editing in mind, both pairs place emphasis on deconstructing the manufacturing process by exposing panelling, stitching and texture. Each has been crafted from a combination of premium leathers, suede and textiles.
As a made-to-order atelier, the tools BespokeIND have on hand are a little more advanced than most. The shoes feature a myriad of custom laser-engraved details throughout and have been finished off with leather hangtags.
Just eight pairs of each BespokeIND x Off-White x Nike Air Max 1 concept will be created, custom made to each buyer's size. All pairs will be handmade at the atelier's Melbourne workshop.
Head to BespokeIND's Instagram page and email them pronto to secure your pair before they're gone!
