Available Now: The MoMA x Vans Collection is Pure Artistry Release: 30 September 2020
Californian skate stalwarts Vans have drawn inspiration from fellow masters of the canvas – Salvador Dalí, Wassily Kandinsky and Claude Monet – linking with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) for a special collection celebrating the diversity of the institution’s artworks.
Featuring five classic silhouettes, the collection is a visual masterpiece, with three of the selections drawing on key elements from the legendary artists.
Salvador Dalí’s surrealist works provide a muse for a Vans Old Skool Twist, which has been ‘twisted’ to go beyond the perception of reality. Meanwhile, the work of Kandinsky, a pioneer of abstract art, can be seen in a Classic Slip-On covered with abstract forms and signs. Rounding out the series is an Authentic inspired by Claude Monet, blessed with a blue impressionist upper design.
‘MoMA is excited to finally reveal the Vans collaboration as they, too, have a rich legacy of supporting artistic expression,’ says Robin Sayetta, Associate Director of Licensing and Partnerships at MoMA.
‘We pursue a limited number of product collaborations, and our goal is always to engage a broader audience with modern art. We are thrilled to reach art lovers around the world through Vans’ global network.’
