Sundae Best: Vandy The Pink and ASICS Serve Up Dessert-Inspired GEL-Nimbus 10.1s

and are serving up a tasty new collaboration with the ‘Banana Split’ Pack. First teased at atmosCon in Tokyo, the drop debuted two playful colourways inspired by summer treat staples: ‘Banana’ and ‘Strawberry’. The Tokyo‑exclusive ‘Banana’ variant arrived with sunny yellow tones and creamy vanilla mesh, while the globally‑released ‘Strawberry’ edition brought soft pink hues accented by chocolate‑brown details and metallic overlays.
Founded by Vandy Son, Vandy The Pink is a Virginia-based designer known for his irreverent, food-themed fashion that blends streetwear culture with playful Americana. Initially gaining traction through custom bootlegs and hand-stitched designs on social media, Vandy has since evolved into a go-to collaborator. His signature motifs – burgers, fries, ice cream, and now summer fruits – are equal parts nostalgic and ironic, bringing tongue-in-cheek satire to the often stiff-lipped fashion space.
Both ASICS designs nod to Vandy’s food-centric aesthetic – familiar from previous projects such as the ‘Burger’ Salomon Speedcross 3 – infusing dessert motifs throughout the upper, midsoles, and even the box artwork. Each shoe features dual-lace options (rope and fuzzy styles) and cosy, GEL-infused soles for comfort and comedy in equal measure. The co-branded insoles and flower heel tag complete the whimsical vibe.
ASICS and Vandy The Pink are bringing their ‘Banana’ and ‘Strawberry’ GEL-Nimbus 10.1s to New York City for an exclusive pop-up this Saturday, May 24. Hosted in partnership with Complex and atmos, the event will require an RSVP to attend. Sign-ups are with the exact location set to be announced on Friday, May 23.
