Shuck the ‘Oyster Grey’ ASICS GEL-Lyte III
The is one of the Japanese brand’s enduring icons in 2022, well over three decades since its debut. This refreshing ‘Oyster Grey’ edition also quietly boasts some eco-conscious credentials beneath its surface, achieved by the use of partially recycled materials.
OG GL3s were characterised by their microfibre and mesh construction; this pair eschews that and opts for more lifestyle-friendly combinations of leather and textile. The latter material is displayed across the toe box and side panel, revealing an intriguing neppy texture reminiscent of knitted socks. According to the official spec sheet, the upper also contains recycled paper, leather and polyester, which is dispersed across the clean white and grey colourway. The green ASICS tongue label is then perhaps a subtle nod to the ‘green’ ethos behind the design. All is sat atop the model’s proven GEL-padded midsole, complete with multiple grey accents.
