Solid Colours Reinforce the ASICS GEL-Lyte III
Despite turning 30 two years ago, aren’t letting up with releases. After all, it’s probably the brand’s best selling retro model, which has been in recirculation for almost 15 years now. And it’s not looking like the colours will be stopping any time soon. Up next is this new edition that so far is a regional exclusive.
Freshly landed at Japan’s atmos is this minty fresh combo with stark black bits going throughout. The model’s lifestyle positioning these days allows it to readily take on materials and colours that its OG releases would have never dared use back in the 1990s. That being said, the debut colourways of the GL3 are pretty out there. Anyway, this new release sees suede and mesh panels on the upper – pretty standard fare here – met by deep black Tiger Stripe branding and solid GEL-infused midsoles. This strong look is further accentuated by mint outsoles and the addition of yellow contrast laces. While seemingly unconventional, the pop of colour from a third accent actually works pretty well.
