ASICS Trick Out a Trio of GEL-Kayano 14s
The 14 revival continues well into 2022 with a new batch of lifestyle-friendly colourways far removed from its heady days as one of 2008’s best performance runners. Now comfortably occupying the upper rung of the Sportstyle category, this new trio of kaleidoscopic kicks is available right now, while still staying true to the athletic aesthetics of the originals.
With the options of ‘Light Sage’, ‘Barely Rose’ and ‘Clay’ to choose from, there is no shortage of colour here. They’re splashed onto tonal arrangements across uppers of suede and mesh, creating an anachronistic clash of materials usually found on more vintage designs. Of course, the Kayano 14 is smack dab in the middle of the trending 2000s aesthetic, so expect more modern features like its namesake GEL cushioning, lightweight foam midsole – which has apparently been tweaked for the more languid pace the shoes will be used at these days – and technical mesh inserts. The resulting combo is some punchy colour combos with equally impact-resistant padding.
These three GEL-Kayano 14s are available now directly from ASICS. The ‘Light Sage’ and ‘Clay’ editions come in size 7 to 14 men’s, while the ‘Barely Rose’ runs from size 5.5 to 12 women’s (4 to 10.5 men’s).
