The KASSL Editions x ASICS GEL-1090 is a Concept for Charity
Dutch brand KASSL Editions have teamed up with to release a very limited collection of with proceeds going towards mental health charity Mind. This collaboration falls under the ASICS ‘Crafts for Minds’ program, which supports various initiatives as part of the brand’s core motto of ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’.
These GEL-1090s have undergone a rather experimental modification that sees a large shroud permanently attached to the uppers, covering the toe box and running to the back of the shoes like a mudguard. KASSL Editions have used a special oil cloth which adds resistance and will also age uniquely. It’s been bonded to the edge of the midsole with a very generous coating of polyurethane (PU) and its excess has been left to drip onto the GEL-infused soles. What this means is no two pairs – of which only 30 have been made – will be alike, because of the unique run-off. There will be the choice of a green or white shroud with tonal PU dripping. The rest of the colourway is a pleasant mix of white mesh and silver synthetic – keeping with OG ASICS flavour – contrasted with a particularly verdant shade of green to accent.
