Foot Locker Launch the ASICS EX89 to Celebrate All Things Basketball
basketball catalogue from years gone by has experienced a jolt over the past few months – and it might just be thanks to their EX89 silhouette.
Drawing inspiration from another vintage silhouette, the 1989 GEL-Extreme, the EX89 is an old-school 80s baller that dives deep into the brand’s archive. In November last year, Kith’s kicked off the EX89’s debut, adding his signature touches to multiple pairs. And now, , the OG Sneaker Store, are preparing to launch five special-edition EX89s in Australia.
The highlight colourways of the five-shoe pack pay homage to legacy basketball teams, donning Knicks, Celtics and Lakers make-ups. Their uppers feature full leather and are bolstered with 80s-inspired colourblocking and tasteful tones that sit underneath the Tiger Stripe branding.
If that’s not your style, Foot Locker will also house two modernised takes – one in two-tone grey and white and the second in monochromatic black and white. Both boast subtle colourblocking and branding touches that are elevated by dual-hue midsoles and the classic ASICS tongue logo.
