ASICS Dole Out the GEL-Lyte III ‘Daruma’ Double Pack
Another day, another release. You get a GL3! You get a GL3! You all get a GL3! And this is only an excellent thing, as the distinct split-tongued retro runner bears increasingly creative executions, such as these two editions inspired by Japanese ‘Daruma’ dolls.
These two GL3s readily take on the bright colours that traditionally decorate Daruma dolls. As they are often seen in red, one of the sneaker options here is indeed a strong red and white leather combo. The latter material is perforated on the toe box with a finer pattern than other variations. Upping the contrast is black patent leather Tiger Stripe branding, which is matched to the shoe laces and outsole. Further referencing the embellishments found on Darumas, gold accents the forefoot reflective windows and heel counter branding. White lining and stark matching midsoles cap off the theme. If, for some reason, the ‘Classic Red’ is too red, there’s an aqua-jade option available too, which ASICS are calling an exotic ‘Baltic Jewel’. Ooer.
