ASICS Add a Dollop of Cream to the GEL-Lyte III ‘Glacier Grey’Release: 20 August 2021
The split-tongued GEL-Lyte III has been a defining model of the ASICS running range for upwards of 30 years. Over the decades, the distinctive model has been subjected to all sorts of wild palettes and unconventional materials via its general releases and collaborative drops. However, the latest edition of the GL3 is among some of its purest ever, confirming the versatility of a sneaker that can be crazy and tame all at the same time.,
People sometimes forget that the GL3 was originally a high-performance sneaker. At least that was the case when it first released in 1990. Years on, the materials have changed to more street-friendly options, such as the full-leather build of this ‘Glacier Grey’ edition, which is about a whiter shade of pale. Everything that was once a microfibre or nylon panel is now some nice grainy leather, lined with reliable terry cloth. For a bit of contrast, a rich dollop of ‘Cream’ smothers the entirety of the GEL-infused midsole, as opposed to its usual accents. This beige tone also meets the hardware, including the heel stability clip, rubber outsole, and woven shoelaces. Simple and clean.
The ASICS GEL-Lyte III in Glacier Grey/Cream is available now from Foot District.
