We're in the middle of the zodiac calendar's Aries season, so Sofia Prantera, Fergus Percell and Luca Benini's Aries Arise (frequently referred to as Aries for short) has reunited with New Balance for a new colab: an 'Unbalanced' take the FreshFoam 1080v11, NB's latest and greatest marathon shoe. Though the FreshFoam 1080v11 is a high-performance sneaker geared to secure podium finishes, the 'Unbalanced' explores another part of running, namely the meditative benefits it offers to weekend warriors and world-class athletes alike.

Spotlighted in a spooky alien campaign shot by frequent Aries collaborator David Sims, the red, black and hi-vis yellow/orange shades used on the 'Unbalanced' are intentionally asymmetrical, a choice that Aries says is a 'challenge to the idea of perfection and winning as the main objective of sport.' Besides the colour scheme, the medial side's logo hits and insole graphics also differ on the left foot and right foot.

From a performance standpoint the 'Unbalanced' is all business, combining a cushy-yet-responsive FreshFoam midsole with an engineered knit upper. It's also accompanied by a full marathon-ready kit of matching apparel, ranging from hoodies and track pants to anoraks, tights, vests, socks and more. This marks Aries' first go-around with New Balance's performance product: the Aries x New Balance 991 (2019) and the Aries x New Balance 327 (2020) collections were both decidedly lifestyle-geared.

Look for the Aries x New Balance FreshFoam 1080v11 and its corresponding apparel to release via the Aries webstore on March 30, then hit New Balance's e-shop March 31. The shoes are priced at $170.
