Artist Anderson Bluu has teamed up with Diadora to produce two tasty collaborations – both inspired by fine wine – on the Maverick and N9002 heritage models. Each tonal colourway respectively represents chardonnay and cabernet varieties, and are built from some pretty sweet suede.

The Maverick is an OG Diadora tennis model, and its relatively minimal uppers provide plenty of real estate for lush green suede to cover its entirety. Green, of course, representing the colour of the grapes used to produce white chardonnay wine. The theme is literally corked off with the spongy material used for the insoles, while a bunch of grapes are embroidered into the heels. Some additional speckle and contrast details up the depth of flavour.

Meanwhile, the blue-tinged N9002 requires some abstract thinking to see the connection to the cabernet grape. While the wine it produces is rich and red, the deep purple grape itself tends to have a light ‘frosting’ that makes it appear bluish – hence the colour choice for these Diadoras. Multiple shades of blue come through the N9002’s layered retro runner design, and the details are similarly luxe on the insides and out. Like the ‘Chardonnay’, the ‘Cabernet’ is finished with cork insoles and grape embroidery.

The Anderson Bluu x Diadora Maverick ‘Chardonnay’ and N9002 ‘Cabernet’ will release exclusively at Footaction on March 24.
