An Air Force 1 Will Release for Chinese New Year
Alongside the Air Jordan 6 'Chinese New Year' that will release in conjunction with 2018's celebrations, Nike have added an Air Force 1 Low to the lineup. This AF1 'Year of the Dog' takes both its namesake and its design cues from its 2006 predecessor.
As even a quick look at the above 2006 'Year of the Dog' shows, 2018's iteration sports a similar mix of pony hair and thoughtfully patterned panels. But while '06 was all about bright and bold beaters, the latest model takes a more understated approach. Decked out almost entirely in white and beige, the sneaker carries the muted palettes of 2017's hyped releases into the new year.
This AF1 is one big tribute to Tibet, beginning with the toe mudguard, which is covered in graphics taken from the interiors of the region's temples. Black laser detailing on the mid and toe panels take cues from Tibetan thangka paintings, and the Chinese character for the Tibetan mastiff sits on the heel.
These will probably release in early 2018 in the lead up to the Chinese New Year. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
