Air Jordan 9 (Statue)
UPDATE:It looks like all that lime green in the original pics made us colourblind. Fresh images of the latest Jordan 9 release have emerged and it's pretty clear they're sporting a healthy dose of bronze, not 'Military Green' as originally stated. The inspiration behind these is the statue of his Airness found outside the United Center, which sports a its own pair of AJ9s, as confirmed by the embroidery of “November 1, 1994" inside the tongue – the date the statue was unveiled. These have crept up on us, with a release date locked in for August 22.
The inaugural award for worst single-colour background for a photo of sneakers goes to this set of close-ups of the new Air Jordan 9 'Military Green'. Looks like these Js be laid up on an ironing board from the 70s or some other era that had equally wack fashion taste. The sneaker game has two rules: get your paper right, get your photo background right. Moving on, it's always tight to see the Air Jordan 9 return. It takes a certain type of Jordanhead to feel some type of way about them – they're not dripping in legendary milestones from His Airness, but people who love 'em will tell you they're fiyahhh forever. Look at that outsole, it's hard to deny the flyness. This rendition is all about whiteness, with a smear of olive butter making 'em shine even harder. Stay tuned for more release info as we head towards a release in the coming months. Until then, just pray for a better set of photos!
