LeBron James was once the taco king of the NBA, but after then-rising star Jayson Tatum dunked on him in the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals he took James' taco crown. Tatum is known as 'Taco Jay' to his friends and family – there's no crazy story behind the nickname: he just loves tacos and admitted that his mom makes them for him 4-5 times a week back in 2020 – and his taco affection is spotlighted on his Air Jordan 36 'Taco Jay,' which just received a release date.

Continuing the tasty themes established on Tatum's previous Air Jordan 34 'Taco Jay' PE, this new taco-inspired sneaker from Jordan Brand is done up in a 'Citron Pulse/Black/Atomic Green/Cone' colourway that seems to represent taco shells, lettuce or guacamole and hot sauce in equal measures. Though the yellow, green and orange colour scheme is scrumptious, the most delectable details are provided by the special taco logo embellished on the throat overlay and the 'Taco Jay' hits on the heel tabs, both of which are replicated on the insoles as well. As can be seen below, the Air Jordan 36 'Taco Jay' also comes packaged in a custom box.

As the taco-loving Tatum and his Boston Celtics battle Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, the Air Jordan 36 'Taco Jay' will be prepped for market and served on June 17 for $195. Unless the Finals goes seven games it'll be over by the time the 'Taco Jay' drops, so let's hope we have more hoops to munch on after its arrival.
