2022 has been a banner year for Jordan Brand's Air Jordan 3, and one of the most notable styles to arrive has been the 'Cardinal Red'. A rich red and white colourway with small hits of gold and plenty of classic printed details, it almost looks like it could be a Derek Anderson PE!

First revealed as part of the spring 2022 Air Jordan collection back in December, the 'Cardinal Red' offers another interesting quirk – namely that it borrows the moniker of the classic Air Jordan 7 'Cardinal', an OG colourway from 1992 that Michael Jordan took to the NBA court in on multiple occasions on the way to his second championship.

However, these Air Jordan 3s are decidedly their own bird, with the high-gloss red detailing giving them a luxurious sheen and the aforementioned elephant print serving up all the late 80s style you can handle. The Air Jordan 3 was the first-ever Air Jordan sneaker designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, and the first sneaker in the greater Nike, Inc. lexicon to feature the now-ubiquitous elephant print. The Air Jordan 3 debuted in 1988 and elephant print still looks great today. That really says something about its staying power!

If you're looking to fly in the Air Jordan 3 'Cardinal Red', you'll be able to do so via JD Sports AU on April 18. Adult, grade school and pre-school sizes will all be available, so the whole family can get fitted!
