It looks like Jordan Brand are tapping into something new with a hybrid of the Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3. In-hand images have emerged via @sunsetsnkrs and @zsneakerheadz, with the construction arriving in a low-top design.

If you’re wondering what makes this iteration significant, the two models represent an important time in Jordan Brand’s history. When AJ1 and AJ2 designer, Peter Moore, and the Swoosh’s marketing VP, Rob Strasser, both resigned in 1987, Jordan Brand was left hanging. Michael Jordan’s contract was also up for renewal, and he was seriously considering not renewing his contract with Nike. Tinker Hatfield was tasked to design the shoe that would make MJ want to stay, and he had to do so on a incredibly short timeline. He of course delivered, and this crossroads is often credited as the moment that saved Nike. Therefore, creating a hybrid AJ2 and AJ3 is not simply design, but a culmination of the shoe that nearly made MJ leave and the one that made him stay.

The hybrid style borrows the AJ3’s air sole and the AJ2 Low’s luxurious upper, with this particular iteration featuring a minimalistic colour scheme with a clean white upper accentuated with black on the lateral, inner lining, and Air Jordan logo on the tongue tab. Cream hits the midsole while grey covers majority of the outsole.

The hybrid Air Jordan 2/3 is expected to drop in mid-2024 in the version above and another soon-to-be-revealed colourway for $160. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more updates.
