Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Launch New 550 Colourways
as the Creative Director for Made In USA, New Yorker Teddy Santis is poised for another huge year in 2021.
His much-loved label also continue to bolster their lineup of New Balance collaborations, the latest batch of ALD x New Balance scheduled to land later this month.
A long-forgotten sneaker from NB’s sneaker vault, the vintage 550 is an underground hardwood classic. Originally hitting shelves in 1989, exhuming the sneaker in 2020 actually required a little digging from Santis and the crew at New Balance.
‘Took us a couple years and a lot of work to bring this shoe back,’ Teddy originally confessed on social media. ‘Everything about the 550s and what they represented felt like this would be the perfect romance to activate SONNY and the ALD grassroots basketball program.’
Launching the NB 550 collaboration last year, the latest batch of 550s include either textured red or sunny yellow uppers. Again, the worn aesthetic is emblazoned by yellowed midsoles, furthering the vintage vernacular captured by ALD.
Look for these Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 styles to release on April 16. The retail price tag is set at $130.
