Teddy Santis and the crew over at Aimé Leon Dore couldn’t have timed the release of the T500 any more perfectly. Teased by precocious American talent Coco Gauff shortly before her incredible US Open win at just 19, Aimé Leon Dore are no strangers to resurrecting long-forgotten archival gems.

Back in 2020, the New York imprint teased the 550 after digging around in old Japanese New Balance catalogues, and the silhouette later became one of the runaway success stories in following years.

For its part, the T500 has been dormant since the 1980s. The vintage performance trainer is somewhat similar in composition to the 550, which also boasts crisp white leather uppers. Profile ‘N’ logos invariably get the most attention, while spots of colour on the heels and sock liners provide aesthetic balance.

Of course, Gauff will be busy wearing her first signature silhouette – the Coco CG1 – as she prepares for her next tournament, but expect to see numerous New Balance athletes rocking this as one of their go-to lifestyle choices over the coming months.

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance T500 sneaker will arrive as part of the label's 2023 Fall/Winter collection in a trio of vintage-inspired colourways. The model is available now in-store and online at  Aimé Leon Dore.
