adidas Reveal the Future of FuturecraftRelease: 17 February 2018
Part Futurecrraft, part AlphaBOUNCE, the new model is a result of adidas linking up with CARBON, who provide the ‘Digital Light Synthesis’ technology needed for the latticed midsole.
Neither party has explained exactly how the tech harnesses light and oxygen — fair, if they gave up trade secrets, we'd see a Skechers bootleg within the week — but the midsole's superior energy return is one of the shoe's key features. At some point, when manufacturing become scalable, you’ll even be able to tune the tech to your own needs.
As for when you can try the future of Futurecraft, you only have to wait until February 17. Punters in Los Angeles can sign up on the adidas app between February 12 and 15 (although adidas’ news site makes it sound like ‘signing up’ for the release and ‘reserving’ the release are different things).
However it goes down, successful futurists can pick up the shoes from adidas’ Santa Monica and Culver store, while limited pairs will be available from Nice Kicks, BAIT, and Undefeated in LA from February 17.
