adidas' Megaride S2 Is Running the Retro Game Right

two adidas megaride 2 sneakers stacked on top of each other

The S2 has officially joined the model's lineup, marking the latest push in the Three Stripes’ revival of early-2000s performance silhouettes. Dropping as part of a broader rollout led by Packer Shoes, the S2 blends archived running tech with a lifestyle-first build – serving as both a callback and a new direction for the Megaride series.

Designed with a moulded rubber cage over a mesh upper, the S2 leans into adidas’ experimental roots. A zippered shroud conceals the laces, while Megaride cushioning – refined for comfort – sits in the heel. Hits of patent leather on the tongue and heel tab add a touch of contrast, pointing to the model’s dual identity: part archive runner, part street staple.

Crafted in 'Core Black/Hi-Res Blue/Purple' alongside a contrasting 'Off White/Core Black/Matte Silver' option, both colourways will launch on July 23 through Packer Shoes and its boutiques. The S2 joins the Megaride A3, Predator Megaride and upcoming Megaride AG, and is another example of why adidas’ return to its archive feels more thoughtful than most: not just retro for retro’s sake, but a real reintroduction of the Three Stripes' most daring era.

If New York isn’t on the itinerary, the Megaride S2 is live now on adidas’ webstore. Take a peek at the silhouette above.
