Back in 2015, adidas launched the program to focus on finding innovative ways to construct footwear and continue to push the boundaries of high tech, modern trainers. From the , to , each time Futurecraft debuted something new we're always left hyped to see the new designs roll out in production. Up to this point, the initiative has been purely focused on new construction techniques and was yet to bridge the gap between all this new-fangled technology and its benefits to their most important person — the athlete. Until now.

With the announcement of the Futurecraft Tailored Fibre, adidas hopes to turn the footwear industry on its head with a new manufacturing technique that can allow each shoe to be custom made to cater for the unique needs of each individual athlete. The result is a truly bespoke performance shoe that could potentially change the landscape of performance footwear and allow consumers to fine tune the way their sneaker feels and supports their feet just like they would colour up a silhouette in miadidas or NIKEiD.

The big test to see if the Futurecraft Tailored Fibre truly is the watershed moment we think it could be is how it will fair at this year's Olympics in Rio — and more importantly — what the other brands also reveal in the coming months. Either way, that promo video for the Tailored Fibre below has got us more excited about the future of sneakers than anything else before! We'll definitely be following this very closely and be sure to report on any developments.
