It’s hard to predict what direction will take next. After experimenting with , changing up their and even into shoes. The latest announcement from the cutting edge adidas line, in partnership with AMSilk, is a shoe woven from a fibre named Biosteel, which is called the Futurecraft Biofabric. The new tech means that the shoe is completely biodegradable, which means when you’re done with them they decompose and go back to the earth from whence they came.

Biosteel is an engineered biopolymer, which is synthesised using the same proteins that spiders use to weave their webs – in effect they’re man-made spider silk. The resulting shoe is stronger and lighter than before, plus it’s completely vegan friendly. In order to decompose the protein requires a specific enzyme, which you’re not likely to come in contact with from day to day, so don’t stress about your shoes dropping off half way through the day.

So far the adidas Futurecraft Biofabric doesn’t have a retail date but we’ll keep you posted with any info that comes our way.
