Jeremy Scott deserves to be credited as one of the pioneers of weird sneakers in the 2000s. The far-out designer took conventional adidas shoes and advocated for more than just unconventional colour palettes for his collaborations. Instead, he sought to modify these relatively modest designs with cosmetic and very superfluous additions like oversized wing attachments or plush gorilla heads. Thanks to Scott’s revitalised partnership with the Three Stripes, that energy returns to the fourth instalment of the Forum Hi Wings 4.0, which flaps in soon in ‘Triple Black’ and ‘Triple White’ editions.

Each iteration of Forum Wings series has seen the namesake hardware attached in increasingly ridiculous positions, but the 4.0 is relatively restrained. The trailing edge of the ‘feathers’ are pointed towards the front of the shoes, as opposed to the rear spoiler of 2.0. This flipped direction results in a considerably smaller wing, allowing the Forum’s ankle strap to still actually work. The little wing doesn’t mean it’s short on detail; a closer look sees embroidered ridges and neat edge finishing. This is all paired to premium leather uppers befitting of a JS colab, all sitting atop the OG Forum rubber sole.

The Jeremy Scott x adidas Forum Hi Wings 4.0 releases on May 5.
