The adidas Crazy 1 (formerly ‘THE KOBE’) is a difficult sneaker to forget.

Debuting in 2000, the model was one of the earlier adi signature shoes of Kobe Bryant, a then fledgling Lakers superstar in the NBA. Inspired by the Audi TT Roadster, initial reactions to the shoe were expectedly polarising, some celebrating the experimental nature of the aesthetic, while others felt that it was too clunky.

Already poised to return in ‘Sunshine’ and OG ‘Metallic Silver’ colourways, the Crazy 1 ‘Stormtrooper’ is now preparing to make its way to stores this week, the Star Wars-like composition perfectly suited to the futuristic vernacular of the Crazy 1.

Illuminated in ‘White’, ‘Black’ and ‘Grey’, the Kobe 1 again utilises its signature moulded uppers (built with synthetic material). Double collars are enforced around the ankles, while Team Trefoil’s iconic Three Stripes branding is debossed on the sidewalls. Toe bumpers serve up some extra durability up front, and in the engine room below, black EVA midsoles feature adi’s signature Torsion system.

Look for the adidas Crazy 1 ‘Stormtrooper’ to arrive on July 21 at retailers like END. A US release date has yet to be announced.
