From Podium to Street: adidas Adizero Goukana Debuts at Undefeated

are lacing up a new chapter in their performance-meets-streetwear story with the launch of the Adizero Goukana, a lifestyle reinterpretation of the classic Adizero Adios.

Originally built for the marathon elite – Haile Gebrselassie set a world record in them at the 2008 Berlin Marathon – the Adios now finds fresh footing in the Goukana, a bold remix grounded in athletic heritage and powered by Los Angeles energy.

Designed by adidas’ LA-based creative team, the Goukana fuses technical cues with lifestyle-geared visuals. The first colourway drops in a punchy yellow, with mesh, suede, and synthetic overlays stacked on a chunky LightStrike midsole.

The Goukana first broke cover at LA Fashion Week in March 2025, where 24 local designers were tasked with reimagining the silhouette.

Rooted in the design DNA of the 2008 Adios Neftenga – a prototype that resurfaced via in 2024 – the Goukana pays tribute to adidas’ storied performance lineage. Its name, meaning ‘luxurious and plush’ in Japanese, honors Mr. Toshiaki Omori, the visionary behind the original Adizero line.

Of course, the Goukana’s foundation also lies in the Adizero lineage – an adidas running franchise that’s built for speed and engineered for records. Since 2005, the Adizero series has helped break world marathon times, combining featherweight design with precision fit. The line has evolved through carbon-plated racers, ultralight foams, and now, lifestyle-inspired hybrids like the Goukana.

The adidas Adizero Goukana is set to release on May 10, 2025, exclusively through chapter stores and their online platform. A wider release is anticipated in June 2025.
