A First Look At Skepta's Nike Air Max 97
After on Instagram and at live shows, colab has been unveiled. The shoes aren’t a gully TN like was suggested, but rather an Air Max 97 inspired by the first shoe Skepta saved up to pay for himself – a wild Air Tuned Max from 1999.
The colourway has been faithfully recreated on the 97 with an almost iridescent paint job that shimmers with notes of green and burgundy. The sneaker's story also ties into a trip Skepta took to Morocco. He was enamoured by local patterns and embroidery, and used the inspiration to inform the pattern on the insoles.
